East Side Culture Crawl

This is what I see from my window.

I am glad it is sunny! It will be much warmer to be outside.
And the snow will look whiter maybe. On days like this, I don't know if I would like the snow to melt.
I had wished it to melt on the weekend because I had some errands on the other side of the bridge.
And, this weekend I will have dinner meeting with some people, which is I am looking forward to :D I hope we instead go to a dessert café.

In fact I have decided to walk as transportation these days because it is warmer--
it is too cold when waiting for the bus. Plus they are often coming late (or not at all) and I was late for class yesterday. It is time for breakfast! I will sit by the window today with the glare in my face and sew thread on little white cloths (which will be immersed in mineral dyes tomorrow!).

one month left till everything ends

Hello everyone! Long time no see. I have been a bit busy lately (not a bit). I still have some projects left to finish and some new ones to start.
Sadly my computer told me the other day that I need a CD to install the scanner, so I cannot use my scanner these days. I did have a dream that I went back home to get a bunch of things. Anyway I have been using my camera instead. Maybe I'll make a new online presence with it.

This is a postcard I took from a shoe-making shop on Granville Island:

Colleen, Jordyn, this is the Circle Craft Fair that I thought you were telling me about in the Halloween Parade. It says there, "Christmas Craft Market. November 8-12. Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre. www.circlecraft.net"
More info from back of postcard )
But I think you were telling me about one next month; and I found this Britannia Craft Fair. Is it the one?

Looking forward to your reply! -Gius

Hello! Long time no see!!

LOL
To everyone who was at Luggage,
I managed to find the venue at the end
(so it is much smaller than I thought
--I imagined it would be in a theatre
since it said #5)
but when I arrived, they told me 'no latecomers.' XD

But the day did not end badly
because I decided to go next door to buy an umbrella!
Hooray!

I need to buy more bus tickets...

During my time in Vancouver, we went to UBC's Museum of Anthropology. I can't understand why that school is so big! It is like a small town.

We got lost for a while and came to find ourselves in a dense forest with giant loghouses that I forgot to take a photo of. And then we saw these:

Over at a gallery in Nova Scotia, there is a little game they are playing, where they have people from around the world create a design on a postcard and then they have to send the postcard to someone else in the world for it to be redone... So, I sent mine to [info]anniu in Finland--I made the drawings of black & white and red, while she pasted cutouts. This is the end result:

The project leaders might be creating an exhibition there of all these happenings. I look forward to when it comes out!

spider in the night

Last night I was just leaving the bathroom, about to enter my room, when I opened the bathroom door and saw something huge and red walking in the dim light. I stared at it for a while--it had been the weirdest thing I had ever seen since the last time. My mind started to freeze and then I woke up and ran to my room to find a jar.
So... here is what I caught:

It is like half the size of one of my fingers. It's big red spider! It had a dark red body with bright red legs and a mauve abdomen. Look at the abdomen. It's SO HUGE! I had never seen one so big. I imagine its abdomen is FULL of POISON!

I'm thinking that the yellow and black bug I saw a long time ago was a spider too. I guess it was the size and colours that shook me. I never see spiders with colour. I only see brown and black ones!
I have a spider that lives with me in my room, and I never kill it because it's brown and tiny and lives by the heater. Unfortunately I was so threatened by this red spider, that I spilled a bucket of water over it at the bathtub. It slipped down the drain. The End of that.

Yay I've learned how to create thumbnails, without making them myself.

All since yesterday I was disconnected from the Internet and it led me to do other things (work) with my time. Here's a hair/makeup croquis

Guatemalan worry dolls

Current Music: múm - we have a map of the piano
There is a legend amongst the highland indian villages of Guatemala. If you have a problem, then share it with a Worry-doll. Before going to bed, tell one worry to each doll, then place them beneath your pillow. Whilst you sleep the dolls will take your worries away.

Oh here's a doll I found, digging in the grave! I'm glad she was not lost. Fortunately, my fotki account wasn't deleted. I don't remember this doll much, but it says she was born Dec. 19. She doesn't live with me anymore.
I almost forgot about this doll, because it was so long ago! Thank you [info]amuk for reminding me!!! Here are some photos. The notes that I've written with each piece, I've written here also. I was a very funny person then!

I also took photos of her at night time, right after she was "born." They were a little clearer because of the lighting, but I don't have those anymore.
What I like about this doll so much is that she could sit upright on her own. It's the first doll I've ever made with Super Sculpey.

Have you ever heard of darts? I haven't! except since the beginning of this summer. I never knew they existed in women's clothing, the hidden little things. But now I've been catching them everywhere in my mother's closet, and also the outfits I come in contact with. Interesting!

Doesn't she look charming ?

She's like a farmer or strawberry patch girl.
I really like the hair colour.
Somehow I never liked her much till this...

It's Kelly Osbourne by the way.
